It all begins in August for coverage of UNC Football. Of course, WCHL bring you the play-by-play of every game with the “Voice of the Tar Heels”, Woody Durham. However, no one keeps you up-to-date during the week better than WCHL.

WCHL also remains committed to keeping you up-to-date on what’s happening in high school sports. Every Friday night, WCHL provides local coverage of the East Chapel Hill Wildcats, the Chapel Hill Tigers and the all-new Carrboro Jaguars. Plus, every morning at 7:28 AM, listen out for Prep Sports Update with Jeff Hamlin. From football to field hockey, Prep Sports Update highlights everything going on in local high school athletics.

WCHL is also proud to sponsor the Top of the Hill Cup, the all-sports competition between Chapel Hill, East Chapel Hill and Carrboro High Schools. Last year, Chapel Hill High was presented with the Top of the Hill Cup, and the 2nd annual competition figures to be just as exciting!

During the winter, WCHL covers everything UNC Basketball, men and women. It begins with in-depth coverage of Roy Williams’ UNC Tar Heels, featuring Countdown to Tip Off, airing 90 minutes before Carolina games. Then, And during the week, we always keep you posted on what's happening with the Tar Heels and head coach Roy Williams. No other station can cover the Heels the way WCHL does, and has, for years.

WCHL is also your home for Carolina Women's Basketball, featuring Sylvia Hatchell's team. Most games can be heard live right here on WCHL. We always cover the UNC women, to make sure you know about women's basketball, and the exciting brand of basketball played by the Tar Heels.

High School Basketball can also be heard on WCHL. Every Tuesday and Friday night, listen for Walter Storholt’s play-by-play as East Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill and Carrboro High take to the hardwood.

In spring, Mike Fox’ UNC Baseball team takes to the diamond at Boshamer Stadium, and WCHL takes you there. From first pitch to last out, WCHL provides coverage of the defending ACC Champions!

If you want to know what's going on in the world of sports, particularly in our local community, you need to listen to WCHL, Chapel Hill’s News, Talk and Tar Heels Station!
