U.S. Senate hopeful Ken Lewis says he’s running because he believes Congress needs to change the way it does business.

As someone who worked his way through college and went on to run a small business, Lewis says his experience as everything from a bus driver to a business lawyer gives him a unique perspective on the needs of North Carolinians.

A Durham lawyer and Chapel Hill resident, Lewis is one of six candidates running in the Democratic primary. He hopes to take on incumbent Richard Burr in the November election, but a recent survey by Public Policy Polling shows him trailing behind both Burr and his top Democratic rivals. Lewis says he’s not daunted by those odds.
