Blanket Orange County has collected more than the targeted 300 donations, and organizer Jan Bolick says this year’s demand was high.

The drive ran at the start of the month and finished shortly before Christmas. Cash donations have been used to purchase additional blankets. Volunteers and staff distribute the blankets to the homeless who sleep outdoors when shelters are full on cold winter nights.

This was the sixth year of the blanket drive, and this year it was to the benefit of residents in the Interfaith Council’s Community House and HomeStart programs.
